Applications require:

  • Project Proposal: a concise description of the project or type of work you plan to pursue during your residency

  • Link to your website or work samples: four images of relevant work in digital format.

  • Short statement about you

  • Our enrollment process includes scheduling a phone call with you as part of the application process. This is an opportunity for you to ask lots of questions and learn more about our residency.

HOUSING
Marie’s Cottage (La Fionnaie) located ¼ mile from Le Pin. A charming 400 year old stone cottage (owned and renovated by my cousin, Marie) has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, kitchen, dining room and outdoor furnished patio. WIFI.

 

STUDIO ARTISTS
Studios: L’orangerie and/or Salle de Reves Studios at Chateau du Pin.

The studio wing of Chateau du Pin has ground floor private entrances for Artists, with south facing tall windows looking into Le Pin’s Topiary Gardens. The gorgeous views bring in the breeze. It is rustique! High ceilings and thick stone keep the studios cool in summer. Wooden window shutters can block intensive light as needed.  Working pleine-aire? We have large garden umbrellas and easels. Toilet and sinks in Rooks Tower and at nearby Chateau Garden Entrance. 

L’orangerie Studio Equipment and supplies:

SIX: 30” x 72” tables with leg extensions for standing work

SIX: 28” X 40” side tables, chairs

extension cords and 4 portable LED standing lights

wooden decking and jute rugs for artist stations (sand floor)

wooden shelving for supplies

plastic basins, dropcloths, hoses, easels 

pin Up boards, clothesline, clothespins

cutting mats, straight edges, matt knives

vintage books & papers, iron

 

Salle de Reves Studio Equipment

large wooden table for standing work (60” X 50”)

long deep counter for seated work (48” X 82”)

two desk sized built-in counters

clothesline, extension cords and 3 portable LED standing lights, brick floor

art locker for communal supplies (gelli plates, tempered glass trays, tape, jars etc)

We suggest you bring your own art supplies. If you have a particular tool or material that is difficult to bring, there are excellent art supply stores in Angers. Please review your materials and supplies with Peg prior to travel.

 
WRITERS

La Fionnaie Cotttage offers a couple of rooms with desks for writers. The Salle de Reves studio located in the L’orangerie wing of the Chateau can be set up as a writing space.

DINING

We will stock your cottage with breakfast and lunches, serve you delicious pop-up suppers in Le Pin’s gardens, on the Loire or at the Vintners Cottage. We provide 3 meals daily featuring bio-dynamique vegetables and fruits from Le Pin’s bursting potager. Resident artists / writers will enjoy local cheeses, fresh breads, meat, poultry and fish served daily.  Local wine available for purchase, including white & red wines from Le Pin’s vineyards.
