Marguerite Jay Gignoux

Artist |  Teacher | Collaborator

Fabric, paper, thread, dye, and ink are some of the common ingredients that I enjoy working with as a textile artist and educator. I create textile collages, mixed media and installations for gallery exhibitions and public buildings.  I also maintain an active teaching artist practice—collaborating with diverse populations and facilitating interdisciplinary community arts projects (Wrap). Over the past twenty years, I have worked in schools, libraries, hospitals, in North Carolina and beyond to make art.  I lead yearly art retreats to Val de Loire, France each summer. I facilitate studio workshops for adults, beginners and experienced artists alike. I believe in the inventive power of rigging up the pop-up studio and reaching new audiences in the most unlikely spaces.
