Art Pluriel presents: Le Pin Residency

2024 Summer Residency | June 9-21, 2024

ABOUT CHATEAU DU PIN

I was born into a sprawling French-American family that holds some of its history in a big stone house in Anjou, France. Since 2004, my husband, David Summer and I have been facilitating art retreats at Chateau du Pin (CdP), Champtoce sur Loire.  Le Pin is a magical setting for artistic exploration. The chateau, a 16th century fortified old manor house, sits on 300 acres that includes vineyards, farms, woodlands, and distinctive formal gardens. The property, a rustic blend of old stone and grand vistas, has been a vacation rental for over 35 years.  Le Pin is full of eccentricity and charm. I enjoy interpreting Le Pin with the purpose of MAKING ART.  Over the years, we have organized small and large groups, collaborating with other teaching artists to offer writing, cooking, bookmaking, painting, yoga, music, and mixed media workshops.  I have been inviting artists who come with independent projects into my workshop sessions at Le Pin for many seasons.

WHAT I OFFER

Each summer I come to Le Pin for 8 weeks, stay in a small cottage on the Le Pin estate and appropriate an old barn as a simple studio. In 2019, I shifted my pop-up studio into Le Pin’s L’Orangerie. This spacious section of the château, which shelters an exotic collection of ornamental shrubs and fruit trees in winter, proved to be a marvelous artist workspace. This has inspired us (Art Pluriel, llc) to present a Residency opportunity for Artists & Writers who are looking for a place to carry out a new project or produce new work. We look to nourish your creative spirit with an inspirational landscape, studio access and French cuisine.
Le Pin Residency - $3000 Includes lodging, food and studio access.

L’Orangerie Summer Studio

L’Orangerie Summer Studio, a rustic airy space with majestic views into the terraced topiary gardens offers a wonderful location to work and experiment. A perfect place to paint, print, draw, and collage. The Le Pin Residency embraces a self-guided approach in the studio. Participants will be sharing large studio spaces as well as having access to private work areas. This residency is for folks who enjoy working independently in a small group setting.

As a family-owned estate, Chateau du Pin has been hosting artists, writers, musicians for generations. Art Pluriel has been creating pop up studios at the chateau and outbuildings since 2004. We have seen the value of building a temporary artist circle that brings in new perspectives and enduring friendships.

Pop Up Studios, The Petit and Grand Salon will serve as communal gathering places as well as pop up studios, as needed, to accommodate writers and or stitchers.

Writers desks are found in various Bedrooms, Salons and the Bibliotecque. Those with writing projects will be given priority to those rooms.
